I think it's common practice to locate the solar return (SR) Ascendant in the natal chart to identify the natal house that it falls in. That provides us with where a person's self-expression, approach to life, how he/she sees the outside world for the SR year.
Likewise, we could do the same for SR MC. If the SR MC falls in the natal 4th house, it could suggest that the person's profession, future is motivated by home, family or roots. It could suggest that a person who has relocated return to his/her home for professional reasons. Or SR MC falls into the natal 2nd house, it could suggest that the person is motivated by personal resources, finances.
