Be the Best You - Aries

What is the Best You?

To be the best version of yourself, the main lesson among others is that you will need to learn is to act on your desires and be independent.

Acting on your desires means that when you feel like wanting something, you get off your butt and do what it takes to get what you want. This may be easy and natural for some of you. If that is the case, good for you! You are well on your path to be the best version of yourself. If not, I'm afraid this is something that you have to work on.

In life, we often need the help and support of others, especially when we face challenges and difficulties. However, there are some trials in life where you have to face them alone. Your family, friends and/or partner(s) may be able to support you and give you advice. However, at the end of the day, you have to face those challenges alone. For example, the Greek hero Hercules had to perform 12 impossible feats as part of his punishment for killing his own wife and children during his temporary insanity. Yes, he had help from others but ultimately he alone had to face the monsters or challenges in each of those 12 feats and complete them. Likewise, to be the best version of yourself, you have to learn to be independent and to stand on your two feet.

Tips to be the Best You

Do What Scares You

To be your very best self, you will need to develop courage which is the ability to do something that frightens you. I have yet to meet a person who isn't frightened by something. It seems that we are all scared of something. For some, it may be public speaking. For others, it may be leaving a relationship that isn't working.

You develop courage over time by doing things that scare the hell out of you. Yes, it requires you to step out of your comfort zone. However, every time you do something that makes you uncomfortable, you become braver. Each time you have conquered a challenge, you are ready for a bigger challenge. What are the scary challenges that you need to face? Is it to quit smoking, to lose weight, to change your job or to spend more time with your children?

Even after you have done many courageous acts, it doesn't mean that you will stop feeling the adrenaline whenever you do something frightening. The stress that you feel within you is necessary for courage to develop. There is no something for nothing. Life asks that you go through crazy shit of your choice before you are rewarded with courage.

Feel the fear and do it anyway.

Do What You Desire

This is your life. You have the right and the power to seek the experiences that you want. You are responsible for shaping your life to the way that you want it to be. What do you want? Practising saying "I want XYZ". Do not be ashamed of what you want (unless it is something that is considered detrimental to the society that you are living in). Go after what you want. If you are the reason for stopping yourself from acting on your desires, get yourself out of the way!

Watch out for the following potholes along the journey

Fight for the Sake of Fighting

Be cautious of picking the wrong battles to fight, especially when it is easy to win those battles. They don't help to build up your courage even though you may feel great from those hollow victories. Those fights may also make you out to be a big bully. Aries, pick your battles carefully and selectively. Not every challenge suits you and are beneficial for you.

See Things Only From Your Point of View

You may insist only on your way, brushing aside the views and needs of other people. Or you may prefer to be alone, avoiding intimate relationships because it may seem easier to do so than to compromise and accommodate yourself to others. In both cases, the reality is that you are dealing with another person who is not you. If relationship with the other person is important to you, it may be best to understand their perspective and adjust yourself to them where possible. I know it can be annoying but hey it's annoying for the other person too!
